2026 RTA Annual Conference Heads to Fort Lauderdale Beach

Registration is expected to open in late July for the Oct. 19-22 event at The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort

Mark your calendars! The Railway Tie Association (RTA) will hold its 2026 Annual Conference Oct. 19-22 at The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale Beach, Fla. Registration is expected to open in late July.

Located across from the Atlantic Ocean, the resort will provide the backdrop for several days of education, networking, industry discussion, and opportunities to connect with fellow RTA members.

The conference will begin Monday, Oct. 19, with the RTA Research & Development Committee Fall Meeting, followed by the President’s Reception featuring light fare, drinks, and live music.

Educational programming begins Tuesday with the RTA Business Session and a railroad executive keynote address. Sessions throughout the conference will cover railroad engineering, government affairs, research and innovation, tie end-of-life solutions, hardwood marketplace perspectives, and Class I railroad procurement plans for the coming years.

“The RTA Annual Conference brings together professionals representing all aspects of the wood tie industry, creating valuable opportunities to connect with fellow members and learn from one another,” said RTA Executive Director Nate Irby, Ph.D. “Attendees will hear the latest on wood tie markets, industry challenges and opportunities, research and development, tie end-of-life solutions, railroad engineering, and other topics affecting our industry. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Fort Lauderdale for several days of education, networking, and fellowship.”

Attendees will also have opportunities to visit with exhibitors, participate in networking events, schedule private meetings, and take part in optional activities. Tuesday’s activities will include the annual RTA Golf Tournament and an Everglades airboat tour. On Wednesday, attendees may participate in a boat tour, while AREMA Committee 30 will hold its meeting at the resort.

The conference will conclude Wednesday evening with a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed closing reception featuring awards, drinks, light fare, and live music. Attendees are encouraged to join the fun by wearing bright, festive colors or pirate-inspired attire.

Additional information, including registration details and hotel reservation information, will be announced when registration opens in late July.

The conference agenda is subject to updates as planning continues and program details are finalized.
